Jim Patrick is Chief Scientist at Cochlear Limited and recognised as a world authority on cochlear implants. With training in physics and electrical engineering, he joined Professor Graeme Clark’s research team at Melbourne University in 1975, and became a foundation member of Cochlear in 1981. As a member of Cochlear’s senior management team, Jim has been responsible for a range of Cochlear activities. He is currently responsible for Cochlear's global research into novel forms of signal processing that will improve the benefits provided by the cochlear implant, and the application of advances in biology and the electro-neural interface to enhance future implant designs. He has an honorary appointment as Associate Professor, the Department of Otolaryngology, The University of Melbourne and Adjunct Professor at LaTrobe University and Macquarie University.
