Biography

A leader in both the theory and practice of his field for over 30 years, Suresh M. Joshi was a key contributor to NASA's Controls-Structures Interaction Program, which developed integrated design methodologies for complex spacecraft. He devised fundamental analytical methods for the design of attitude and shape control systems for flexible spacecraft. His two texts on this topic, Control of Large Flexible Space Structures, and Control of Nonlinear Multibody Flexible Space Structures (co-authored with A. Kelkar), are widely recognized as valuable references for both industrial and academic readers.

Dr. Joshi is a Fellow of the IEEE, the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. His many honors include NASA's Floyd L. Thompson Fellow Award and the IEEE Control Systems Society Control System Technology Award. He is senior scientist at NASA's Langley Research Center in Hampton, Va.
