Paul W. Klipsch
Biography
Dr. Klipsch graduated from Stanford University, California, USA, and New Mexico State University (NMSU), Las Cruces, USA, now home of the Klipsch School of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Klipsch Museum. He received an honorary doctorate from NMSU in 1981.
Dr. Klipsch worked for General Electric and later supervised maintenance for electric locomotives in Tocopilla, Chile. He founded Klipsch Audio Technologies in 1946. Dr. Klipsch invented the Klipschom, a corner, horn-loaded speaker that sounds like an orchestral setting. The company continues to make high-quality speakers for computers, movie theatres and homes.
Dr. Klipsch was inducted into the Audio Hall of Fame, and the Engineering and Science Hall of Fame. Klipsch was a Life Fellow of the IEEE.
Klipsch died on May 5th, 2002.
