About David Middleton

This is a follow-up to an interview first conducted in 2000. Middleton discusses his current writing project and explains how it has expanded from an article to a 1300-page book. The book is a reference text in Physics which he calls a “primer.” He hopes it will have applications across many related fields and be of special interest to graduate students and post-docs. Middleton discusses changes in science education and the training of graduate students, as well as shortcomings in the early-career development of some engineers. Explains the importance of knowing about past research and building on that work. Interview ends with discussion about the value of oral history and speculation about the future of telecommunications.
