Biography

Joseph Masterson trained in engineering during service in the U.S. Army from 1954-58. After his discharge, he earned a B.S. in electrical engineering from Newark College of Engineering, now the New Jersey Institute of Technology, and an M.S. from the Brooklyn Polytechnic institute.

During his time with General Cable Co., Masterson was involved with projects such as the installation of the first fiber-optic cable for high-speed data transmission at NASA's Kennedy Space Center and the installation of a fiber-optics system at Disney World in Orlando, Fla., USA.

After his retirement from General Cable Co., Mr. Masterson taught in his hometown of Cateret, N.J., USA, as well as teaching a physical science course at John F. Kennedy High School in Paterson, N.J.

Masterson died on February 12th, 1997.
