Origins

A letter, dated 1963, from IEEE members from Norway petitioning for the creation of a Norway Section. Congratulatory letter from IEEE acknowledging the creation of the Norway Section. Inaugrated 28th March 1963.

IEEE Norway Section is thus one of the oldest Sections in R8. At the beginning of 2010 Norway Section had 1008 members. The Section has seven Chapters and one Student Branch:

SPITCOM is located in Trondheim, IA is located in Stavanger, AP/MTT in Bergen, Education in Porsgrun and the PE chapter is located in Oslo. The Student Branch is located in Trondheim.

40th Anniversay

The 40th Anniversay was held on 13 November 2005. The opening speaker was Knut Endresen with this Address

The other speakers were Morten Hovd, Per Morten Schiefloe, Jens G. Balchen, Sverre Aam, Arne Nysveen og Thomas Tybell.

The Baltic Cooperation

The IEEE Norway Section participates in a group titled the "Baltic Cooperation". The objective of the IEEE Baltic Cooperation is to create a functioning collaboration between the Baltic Region sections which shall result in common activities, such as; joint events, joint chapters and common utilization of IEEE resources.
