IEEE Norway Section is thus one of the oldest Sections in R8. At the beginning of 2010 Norway Section had 1008 members. The Section has seven Chapters and one Student Branch:
 
- Signal Processing/Information Technology/Communication (SPITCOM)<br>- Industrial Applications<br>- Power Engineering<br>- Antennas and Propagation/Microwave Theory and Techniques<br>- Education<br>- Oceanic Engineering<br>- Control System
 
SPITCOM is located in Trondheim, IA is located in Stavanger, AP/MTT in Bergen, Education in Porsgrun and the PE chapter is located in Oslo. The Student Branch is located in Trondheim.

The 40th Anniversay was held on 13 November 2005. The opening speaker was Knut Endresen and the&nbsp;address attached here -&gt;&nbsp;<br>The other speakers were Morten Hovd, Per Morten Schiefloe, Jens G. Balchen, Sverre Aam, Arne Nysveen og Thomas Tybell.

Origins

A letter, dated 1963, from IEEE members from Norway petitioning for the creation of a Norway Section. Congratulatory letter from IEEE acknowledging the creation of the Norway Section.   Inaugrated 28th March 1963.
