Frank A. Vuozzo

Frank A. Vuozzo (1916-1998) was an engineer at Grumman Aerospace who designed military planes, corporate jets, and trucks. Raised in Queens, he worked his way through high school and the City College of New York. Vuozzo joined Grumman in 1939, rising from shop mechanic to manager of a design team. During World War II, he repaired United States military planes at British airfields. He returned to Grumman after the war, contributing to the designs of military aircraft including the A-6 Intruder, the E-2C Hawkeye, and the F-11F Tiger.
