While employed as an engineer at GE in 1962, worked on the design of a digital display processor and became interested in the application of digital technology to television. The remainder of career was primarily directed to this area of interest. Retired from NBC as Managing Director, Television Technology, at the end of 1998 after completing service as chair of ATSC technical committee charged by FCC with documenting the ATSC advanced digital television system. Acceptance of the standards documentation by the FCC completed this commitment.
