While employed as an engineer&nbsp;at GE in 1962, worked on the design of a digital display processor and became interested in the application of digital technology to television.&nbsp; The remainder of&nbsp;career was primarily directed to this area of&nbsp;interest.&nbsp; Retired from NBC at the end of 1998 after completing service&nbsp;as chair of ATSC technical committee charged by FCC with documenting the ATSC advanced digital television system.&nbsp;Acceptance of the standards documentation by the FCC completed this commitment.
