May I suggest the following (61 words) to better indicate the details of SPICE.  Best, Tom Misa (tmisa@umn.edu)

"SPICE (Simulation Program with Integrated Circuit Emphasis) was created at UC Berkeley as a class project in 1969-1970. It evolved to become the worldwide standard integrated-circuit simulator. With the additions of sparse matrix analysis, adjoint sensitivity analysis, built-in device models, and varied user interfaces, it became an essential industry-wide tool employed for virtually all integrated circuit design."
