The Apollo Guidance Computer provided spacecraft guidance, navigation, and control during all NASA’s Apollo Moon missions. It was developed during 1963-68 at the MIT Instrumentation Laboratory under the leadership of Dr. Charles Stark Draper. This was the first digital computer to collect data and perform real-time calculations during flight, for lunar rendezvous trajectories which the Apollo program needed to land humans on the Moon and to bring them safely back to Earth.

Reasons: In the second sentence the logic of when, where, who is established. (In my opinion "The MIT Instrumentation Laboratory" is the name historically known. Whereas if you told me "Draper Laboratory" it could refer to that of a well known manufacturer of tools marketed in the UK)

In the third sentence, the technical achievement and the specifics about Apollo - being the first to put man on the mooon - are a reminder to youngsters who may think that it was common occurrence at that time.
