Let me introduce myself as the Advocate on this submission. I am Fiorenza Albert-Howard, a Life Senior Member in Vancouver Canada. I have read the material presently available on the GHN and I would like for the proposers to complete the form as much as possible, so we can start a review of the submission. For example a citation is needed, and so on for all the following items. Then we can discuss item by item what is sufficient and what needs work on it.

You need to communicate with Uday Kapoor, uday.kapoor@oracle.com. He is the main proposer. He is heading a committee of heavy hitters on this milestone. I am one of his committee mebers. He also was directly involved with SPARC.

Please copy my direct email for all communications, ahrons@alum.MIT.edu

PS I sent Uday an emailo last week and he replied that he is at the DAC conference in Austin, TX and said he will work on it when he returns. You may want to get some timing from him.

There is no real issue with this milestone program getting the details done, when you are working full time. Uday and several members of the committee work at SUN(Oracle). The Sun campus is a CA historical site so there is ample public space to install the plaque. You would be welcome if you would like to visit the campus.

Hello Fiorenza, it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance. I submitted the proposal for your review, after updating several sections, on July 9. I understand Steve Diamond, who helped with the proposal has been in touch with you. If you have any questions, please ask me. Thanks and regards. Uday

The fields under "organizational unit" are still missing the names of the officers, the proposers, your email, etc. can you please fill those items in? Then it looks complete to me, only one additional comment: the citation is very long and as it is supposed to be engraved on the plaque, could you leave the entire one as a reference/rationale, but summarize a shorter version?

Any changes to the proposal are to be entered by the proposer - on line - I do not communicate via email as it is not in the procedure.

The citation seems to be pretty ambiguous as to how the innovation did what it claims.

I am not as familiar with the history of this technology, so I will leave a more general comment: the milestone needs to identify the reason that this is a "first" and explain "why" this architecture is a milestone. Right now, the milestone reads a bit like a marketing statement. Consider rewording it to state that SPARC "led to..." or was a "foundation for..." when making the assertions about its importance. --Dave Bart

The citation and historical significance need refinement.
