Robert Wilensky was born in Brooklyn on March 26, 1951 and received his bachelor’s degree in mathematics in 1972 and his Ph.D. in computer science in 1978 from Yale University. After graduation from Yale, Wilensky moved to UC Berkeley where his career spanned nearly 30 years in memory processes in natural language processing, language analysis and production and artificial intelligence in programming languages. Wilensky served as chair of the Computer Science division and was instrumental in creating the UC Berkeley Digital Library Project.
