LORAN +The proposed plaque would be be wall-mounted outdoors, probably attached to MIT Building N42, alongside other plaques at 211 Massachusetts Avenue. The plaque would be readily visible to pedestrians walking on this public sidewalk.

Mainline Electrification of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, 1895 +The approximately 40-acre site is appropriately fenced and is a secure site. It is accessible to all members of the public who visit the museum. The proposed specific location of the plaque is at the Education Station building on the site. this location is the centralized repository for other plaques acquired through the years. The GPS coordinates of the proposed site of the plaque are: (39 deg.17'07.81"N), (76 deg.38'00.42"W).

Mercury Spacecraft MA-6 +The Prologue room is open to the public during the summer months and is visited by more than 5,000 non-Boeing people every year. In addition, the Prologue Room is used by The Boeing Company to explain the vast history of the company to domestic and foreign dignitaries. In addition, middle school students are given tours of the Prologue Room. They learn the mechanics of flight and they are encouraged to consider careers in math, science, and engineering. There is a visitor's parking lot next to Bldg 100 where the public may park and walk to the site of the milestone plaque. The Prologue is a secure area and Boeing provides daily security patrols of the area. The Prologue Room (site of Mercury Capsule MA-6 ) is inside the secure area of Bldg 100

RAMAN EFFECT +It is a Government of India Research Organization, with proper protected campus.The plaque may be erected at the Main Gate, or at the Central lobby of the Building. Visitors are allowed inside for specific purposes with proper identity.
Rincon del Bonete Hydroelectric Plant and Transmission System +As an important generating facility, the site is well secured. The plaque will be affixed to an outside wall, where the frequent public/students touristic/educational tours make a stop.

SAGE (Semi Automatic Ground Environment) +The main lobby provides entrance to public spaces such as the cafeteria and auditorium where IEEE meetings and other events take place.

TIROS 1 +For public access the plaques are displayed on the exterior of the Sarnoff Corp (Formerly RCA Labs) building headquarters main entrance under a three story roof, and on marble surfaces. The work cited in this nomination was performed in several RCA facilities, RCA Labs, RCA Camden and RCA Astro. The building for the mounting of the RCA Plaque is the former RCA Labs and it currently or actually exists. (See photo attached.)
The 20 inch Diameter Photomultiplier Tubes +The factory is surrounded by a fence, but the front gate is kept open during the daytime. Visitors can go to the plaque site without going through the security during the daytime.

The first satellite broadcasting to the public +The building of the laboratories is guarded by security personnel at the entrance of the laboratories lot and at the entrance of the building. The entrance lobby of the building is open to the public so that visitors can see the display about broadcast technologies.
The world’s first low-loss optical fiber for telecommunications +The area is secured by a gate. Corning Security will raise the gate for visitors wishing to park and view the plaque.
Toshiba T1100, a pioneering contribution to the development of laptop PC, 1985 +As Ome Complex is one of Toshiba’s facilities, it has enough secure gates. But it has a museum area in the building, and people are allowed to go into the building can access the museum area. Already IEEE Milestone Award “The First Word Processor for The Japanese Language, 1971-1978” is displayed at Ome Complex.

Unidirectional Microphone +The building is secure at all times. Visitors can simply enter the lobby entrance to view both the plaque and Shure's display of historical microphones and documents. Additional access to the building would need to be arranged with Shure.

Whirlwind Computer +The original building where Whirlwind was housed is located at 211 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge. The plaque would be readily visible to pedestrians walking on the public sidewalk along this major street in Cambridge.
