Biography

Millett G. Morgan was born on January 25th, 1915. He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees at Cornell University, Ithaca, NY, USA, and his doctorate at Stanford University, Calif.

He helped develop x-band radars for destroyer escort vessels at the Submarine Signal Co. and radar counter measures at the California Institute of Technology, Pasadena. In 1947, he joined the Thayer School of Engineering at Darthmouth College, Hanover, N.H, where he worked for the rest of his career.

In the 1950s, Dr. Morgan developed a research program that uses naturally occurring audio-frequency radio waves to study space plasma. He also chaired the U.S. National Committee's Panel on Ionospheric Research of the National Research Council during the International Geophysical Year (1957-58).

Morgan died on January 14th, 2002.
