Biography

Leon Kirchmayer was born on July 24th of 1924. He earned a BS in Electrical Engineering from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and then earned a MS and a PhD from the University of Wisconsin. He spent his career in the employ of the General Electric Company, eventually rising to the rank of Manager of Advanced Systems Technology and Planning. He was responsible for the development of advanced concepts of electric utility planning operations and control. He was author and coauthor of several books, wrote 96 technical papers throughout his lifetime, and hed numerous patents regarding computer control of electrical systems Mr. Kirchmayer was a member of the IEEE, the Asme, and Natl Soc Professional eng.
