Biography

Dr. Jayanta K. Pal received a B.S. and Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the University of Ca cutta (Bengal Engineering College, Shibpur) in 1968 and 1977 respectively. He worked with Calcutta Electric Supply Corp. Ltd., for a year prior to joining Engineers India Ltd. (EIL), New Delhi, in 1970. At the time of his death he was deputy chief consultant of EIL. During his tenure of about 29 years in EIL, he worked in the areas of industrial power system design and electrical control systems.

He was associated with the electrical engineering department of Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. He co-edited the book, "Real Time Micro-Computer Control of Industrial Processes," and he was author of about 35 technical papers. Dr. Pal was also an associate editor of the IEEE Transactions On Control Systems. Pal was the chairman of the IEEE Delhi Section in the beginning of 1999.

Pal died on January 28th, 1999.
