Arc Lighting

In June 1878, as part of the Exposition Universelle in Paris, arc lighting using Jablochkoff candles illuminated the Avenue de l'Opera and the Place de l'Opera, marking a milestone in public awareness and excitement about the technology. Paul Jablochkoff had designed longer-lasting electrodes.
