As authorized by the IEEE Board of Directors, the IEEE Member and Geographic Activities Board (known as IEEE Regional Activities Board prior to 1 January 2008) approved the establishment and boundaries of the IEEE Kansai Section on 14 November 1998. The Kansai Section conducts activities which assist the local IEEE members to enhance their professional careers and their communities.

The number of members of the Kansai Section as of November 30, 1999 was 1472, which was slight increase compared with that of June 30, 1999. In 1999 the Section had five Executive Meetings, one Annual Section Meeting, one Committee meeting, two technical lectures, and one symposium in co-operation with other institutes. In 2000 Kansai Section had three Executive Meetings, one Annual Section Meeting, two Committee meetings, two technical lectures and two symposia in co-operation.


IEEE Kansai Section was established in November 1998. The Bylaws of the Section was approved by RAB on 24 June, 1999 and the first officers were elected in April, 1999.<br>The number of members of the Kansai Section as of November 30, 1999 was 1472 , which was slight increase compared with that of June 30, 1999.&nbsp; In 1999 the Section had five Executive Meetings, one Annual Section Meeting, one Committee meeting, two technical lectures, and one symposium in co-operation with other institutes.
