Biography

Sussner received the IEEE Medal for Engineering Excellence in 1994. He earned his PhD in physics in 1976 and began his career at the Max Planck Institute for Solid State Physics in Stuttgart. In 1980, Sussner began working on advanced recording technology at IBM in San Jose, California. He continued working with IBM, and became the Director of Storage Systems and Technology in 1986, and, in 1992, co-founded and directed IBM Europe's corporate venture group in Paris.

In 1996, Sussner joined Phase Metrics Corporation, based in San Diego, California, and served as its Chief Technical Officer responsible for R&D and product development. He then worked as the Senior Managing Director at H&Q Asia Pacific. Sussner is currently the Managing Director at Miramar Venture Partners.
