Glenn E. Merriam

Glenn E. Merriam was a radio engineer at Cincinnati, Ohio’s WLW-AM (700). During the 1950s, he was the voice of Uncle Glenn on the Big John and Sparky Show that broadcast nationally on WSAI. He subsequently worked for 28 years at General Electric in the Air Force contract management division.

Born in Oakland, California, Merriam earned an electrical engineering degree from Purdue University. He was a volunteer and charter member of the Voice of America and served as an air raid warden during World War II.
