Picard Medal in 2001 “For outstanding leadership, technical contributions and the implementation of innovative concepts in the design, development and deployment of large, wide-band phased array radar systems." He received his bachelor's and master's degrees in electrical engineering from Rutgers University and Northeastern University, respectively. Steudel worked for 46 years at Raytheon as a lead engineer within phased array radar system engineering.
