This schematic of Arthur Korn’s 1907 teleautograph depicts the basics of facsimile: scanning, transmitting, and reproducing an image. Instead of physical scanning, a beam of light scanned the image in Korn’s selenium-based system, which used electric motors for smooth movement of the cylinders.
