Edward B. Meyer: Biography

Meyer was AIEE president from 1935 to 1936.

Mr. Meyer was born on October 22, 1882 at Newark, N.J. and received his technical education at the Newark Technical School from which he graduated in 1901 and at Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, N.Y., graduating from the electrical engineering course of that Institute in 1903.

In 1903 Mr. Meyer entered the employ of the Public Service Corporation of N.J. and has remained continuously with this organization and its subsidiary companies until the present time. He has filled successively the positions of engineering assistant, field engineer, assistant engineer on special engineering reports and in 1912 was appointed assistant to the chief engineer, in 1919 was appointed assistant chief engineer and in 1922 at the formation of the Public Service Production Company was appointed chief engineer which position he still holds.

Mr. Meyer is a Fellow and Director of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the National Electric Light Association and the American Railway Association. He has been largely identified with technical society activities, having been chairman of many important committees. He has presented technical papers and is the author of a book on "Underground Transmission and Distribution".
