Biography

Born in Brazil in 1914, A. H. Dantas de Brito was initially trained as a lawyer and became district attorney in Brazil. He came to the United States in January of 1941 and enrolled at the Catholic University of America to pursue his PhD in international relations and international law.

De Brito spent his career in various international organizations, including the International Monetary Fund, Pan-American Union, and the United Nations (1947-1975), where he was a Director of Political and Security Council Affairs. He served as the Brazilian Mission to the UN from 1975 to 1985. De Brito passed away on May 13, 2005.
