- Checkpointing - the regular storing of a "snapshot" of a current application or program state, to be used to restore the program to that place in case of failure
- Core dumps - also called a memory dump, the recorded state of the working memory of a computer at a specific time, usually when a computer has crashed
- Debugging - the systematic removal of bugs or defects in a system's code and software
