Abstract
Interview with Gene Franklin, conducted 5/10/2000 by Karl Astrom, a distinguished Control Systems Engineer and member of the of the IEEE Control Systems Society History Committee. In the first half of the interview, Franklin recounts his career, largely at Stanford University as a professor of electrical engineering specializing in Control Systems. In the second half, Franklin and Astrom discuss several contemporary problems and issues in Control Systems Engineering.
