The IRE, one of IEEE's predecessor societies, regularly issued year books, from shortly after its founding until the 1963 merger that created IEEE. These year books contained a variety of current information on IRE, such as officers, constitution, bylaws, section guidelines, and awards, but the larges part of each issue was a membership directory, sorted both alphabetically and geographically, The directory included basic information on each member---date joined, membership grade, address, and employer. In 1950, as IRE membership began increasing rapidly, the year book was renamed the IRE directory, and some of the non-directory material no longer appeared.
