Biography

James S. Kresge, born on December 7, 1924, received his BSEE degree from the University of California at Berkley in 1950. He joined the General Electric Co. in February 1950 on the Engineering Test Program.

His work experience has included 8 years as a laboratory engineer at the High Voltage Laboratory in Pittsfield, Mass., 4 years as an Insulation Development Engineer at the Medium Transformer Department in Rome, Georgia, and 14 years as a Senior Development Engineer for lightning arresters in Pittsfield, Mass. His work on arresters has included development of EHV arresters for 550 and 765 kV systems, HVDC arresters, and more recently the new Solid State Zinc Oxide arrester.

Mr. Kresge has 14 issued patents and has co-authored seven IEEE Transactions Papers, one of which won the PES Prize Paper award. He is a Senior Member of IEEE and a member of Tau Beta Pi Honor Society.
