Bell Solar Battery unveiled

In 1954, Gerald Pearson, Daryl Chapin, and Calvin Fuller unveiled the Bell Solar Battery--the world's first device to successfully convert useful amounts of sunlight directly into electricity. This served as the very foundation for solar energy production as well as photo-detector technology.
